55 Free Summer Concerts: Sounds ranging from American Roots to Latin jazz and Rhythm and Blues to Brazilian beats will echo from all corners of Los Angeles County this summer. Fifty-five free concerts are scheduled end of June to October in parks, outdoor amphitheatres, community centers, libraries and museums. A complete schedule is available online. Noho Dine Out Fridays: Get out into the community for a weekly food truck fest, boutique vendors and street performers. Dogs welcome too! Every Friday, 5 p.m. -8 p.m., The Parking Lot at 11458 Burbank Blvd, North Hollywood. Admission free; food and vendors cost.

Heroes Air Show: Be part of the action in the air and on the ground when real-life heroes who save lives and protect communities every day are honored at the nation’s premier, helicopter–only, admission-free aviation event designed to profile rotary-wing aviation’s dynamic role in law enforcement, public safety, communications, Search & Rescue as well as homeland security and national defense. The Laugh Pack at Theatre West: Bruce Fine hosts an All-Star comedy and music show with comedians Sonya Kahn, Gene Pompa and J. Chris Newberg Open bar and appetizers at 6:30 p.m. Show starts at 8 p.m.

Rotary Food Drive: The Rotary E-Club of The Greater San Fernando Valley and the Rotary Club of North Hollywood team up with Valley Food Bank, with the gracious generosity of Gelson’s, to host an OMI (“Oh, My!”) Food Drive. When you shop at Gelson’s in Sherman Oaks (on Van Nuys Blvd. just south of the 101) or in Valley Village/NoHo (corner of Laurel Canyon and Riverside) on Sunday, July 1 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., please purchase just ‘one more item’ of non-perishable food. Rotary Club members at the entrances will be grateful to collect your item on your way out, and will bring it to the Valley Food Bank to help alleviate hunger in our own back yard. BEATLEMANIA at the El Portal: The story of Beatlemania as told through the music that changed the world! ‘The Stars of Beatlemania!’ chronicles the musical history of the Beatles through live recreations of their electrifying stage shows. From their explosive debut on the Ed Sullivan Show and their meteoric ascent to the ‘Top of the Pops’ through the colorful Sergeant Pepper era and beyond – this is the dramatic story of how The Beatles transcended their own myth and crafted a musical legacy that continues to inspire and captivate the world’s imagination. Through Sunday, July 1.
A Step Beyond the Rain: This powerful one-woman show is a true story about a mother and her two daughters struggling under the weight of physical and mental illness. A Step Beyond the Rain was written and performed by actress Miata Edoga. Veteran actor, Ashley Crow, best known for her roles in “Heroes”, “Minority Report” and “The Secret Circle” is making her directorial debut. Studio City resident and award winning television producer Gabrielle Yuro is producing. The production plays weekends at the Two Roads Theatre, (4348 Tujunga Avenue) in Studio City through Sunday, July 1.
No Way Around But Through: Scott Caan (Hawaii Five-O, Entourage) wrote and stars in this dark, thoughtful, quirky romantic comedy at the Falcon Theatre which also stars Melanie Griffith (Working Girl), along with Bre Blair (Make It Or Break, CIS), Robyn Cohen (Gravity, The Life Aquatic) and Val Lauren (24, Sal), who directs as well. Top flight acting all around. Runs through July 8.

National Lampoon’s Animal House: See the movie, meet some cast and crew, and get a book signed at this special American Cinematique event at the Egyptian Theatre this Saturday, June 30. Producer and “National Lampoon” founder Matty Simmons will sign copies of his book ‘Fat, Drunk and Stupid: The Inside Story Behind the Making of Animal House at 6:30 p.m. in the Egyptian lobby.
